~Warrior's Redemption by Melissa Mayhue~

*Lets take a moment of silence as this will be my final Highlander review of the year*
(LOL......Thank heavens there is less than FOUR days left in this year)
Now without further ado......

MALCOLM MACDOWYLT sees himself a failed warrior, haunted by the death of the woman he married to become laird of Clan MacGahan. Neither his Viking heritage nor his claim to descend from Norse gods can restore his confidence in his ability to protect his people. His sister is held captive, her life in jeopardy, and his Magically powerful half brother wants him dead. The last thing he needs is more responsibility, but that’s exactly what he gets when his Faerie mother-in-law arrives seeking justice for her daughter in the form of an enticing woman from seven hundred years in the future.
DANIELLE DEARMON has waited fifteen years to discover the life she is supposed to live. She just never dreamed she’d end up in the thirteenth century with a handsome Scot bent on saving everyone but himself. With the lives of those most dear to him hanging in the balance, Malcolm sets out to battle a powerful evil magic, only to learn that the redemption he seeks exists in the arms of the woman he loves.

I was extremely happy when I saw that Melissa had given Malcolm his own book. First introduced in A Highlander's Homecoming, I really thought there was so much more to the guy and WOW did she give it!

I loved the introduction of all the new characters and the venture into the Viking heritage. All the different twist and turns I swear I hated one person only to like him in the end and hate the other. AWESOME!

Malcolm is such a strong willed and loyal character you can't help but love him (plus "HIGHLANDER HOTNESS").....heck the man believes he is the reason his wife died....even though.......well ummm yeah.

Then there's Danielle, how cool is she??? Always believing even when people tell her just to give up. Such a real trooper. No wonder the Fairy Queen listened to her called.
I must say she did have her stubborn-selfish streak, but she got over herself.

I personally can't wait until then next book....I mean even though there's been nine books in the series, Melissa makes sure each book..
Is unforgettable....Can stand on its OWN....And is AMAZING!!!!

~Sex, Lies and Mistletoe~

Undercover DEA agent Caleb Black is home for the holidays—possibly to bust his own father.  But maybe Caleb’s con-man dad isn’t the one running drugs through the small town of Black Oak. Maybe it’s the green-eyed goddess who runs the New Age shop and has Caleb under her sultry spell.
Pandora Easton saved the family store with two words: sex sells. And her delectable aphrodisiacs really work, as she’s proven with notorious bad boy Caleb again and again and again. Little does she guess that, in the end, her most potent potion will be the truth….

I have to say for starters...it is so nice not being stuck in the middle seat on an airplane while reading another book by Tawny....because I really don't think I could keep myself in check as well as before.......To see that review click here.

I enjoyed Pandora, she was by far my favorite character. I loved how she stood her ground....even when the town gossiped.Very strong willed...although in the beginning really in need of self confidence.
Caleb is just.....HOT....HOT....HOT....did I say HOT????
So what if the whole town thinks he's a "Bad Boy", who cares if he has no job...he's got "Magic Hands."
The story was a nice read.....The interaction between the main characters totally clicked....at times intense....then mind blowing with his boots on (LOL).
Pandora's back story plays so well into the the main story as a whole right down to the climax.
Then what Caleb did for Pandora.....guess he has busted that "Bad Boy" image......

The  only question I really had at the end of the book was.....
Where's my Chocolate Cake????
(Feel free to have Hunter deliver it....LOL)

~Sins of the Highlander~

Coming out January 1, 2012
Even with her gift of the Sight, never had Elspeth Stewart imagined her wedding would be interrupted by a darkhaired stranger charging in on a black stallion, scooping her into his arms, and carrying her off across the wild Scottish highlands. With two clans against them burning for battle, they must find a way to join together–body, breath, and soul. Or both will be made to pay for the Sins of the Highlander.

Ahhhhh Yes!!!! Another Highlander story :0)

Hell bent on revenge and out to rectify the death of his wife, I would have to say that "Mad Rob" did an excellent job at it!
Not too many men will go to that extreme!
As for our poor helpless noble kidnapped woman....
At times I really wanted to smack Elspeth, but she did surprise me in the end. I actually kind of liked her (wow..that's a first...lol)
Now the villain,Lachlan Drummond....wow!
What an evil (insert BAD WORD).
I found this story wonderful...full of action...love ...betrayal and of course a highlander ending.
Well written characters with strong attitudes and honor among family gives the reader a feeling that they're right there watching the story unfold.
Totally AMAZING.

It would be a great read to start anyone's New Year off.

Closet~By Eric Swanson

It seemed to be an innocent looking book that John picked up from the local bookstore, but late that night, as he read it in the secret of his closet, a creature emerged. Then with arms extended strangled the life out of him, leaving behind Megan and their baby Derek. But as Megan was leaving the house, two other forms attempted to kill her as well. The mysterious creatures were silent for the next two decades and Derek even managed to get married and start a family with a mentally disabled son. He went to seminary and was starting to look for a job. But, after receiving multiple rejections, Derek was at the bottom of despair. Then after a chance encounter with a witch, he picked up a book from the sidewalk that seemed to have all the answers he needed in life. Later that evening, as Derek was reading the book, there was a noise from the closet, and a door was opened to a demonic dimension that a local witch uses to take his mentally disabled son and wife into. Derek then enters the same dimension to save the ones he loves. Along the way he confronts the evil in his own life through the help of the Holy Spirit, who shows up in seven different human forms depending on the situation. After dealing with his own weaknesses Derek has to win back his wife, and confront the two creatures that plagued his parents. Closet captures the attention of young adults and fans of the supernatural. It helps the reader to understand the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer and how the Spirit helps us to not only confront our weaknesses, but to gain victory as well. Also, it helps us the reader gain a better understanding of the plan He has for our lives.

I'll be honest when I first started this book...I was thrown back. I couldn't fathom a book that was supposed to be about faith to start with some demon strangling a father in his closet. That alone had me questioning what I was really about to read.

However, as I read I realized that this author captured so much in one single book that so many of us fail to see on a daily basis, it was truly unbelievable.
I think any book that makes you question your own attitude to life is truly a good book and this book does just that.

I just couldn't believe how in dept I fell as soon as Rachel and Timothy were taken by Sally. I couldn't put the book down...I had to finish it.  The trials that Derek went through before he realized that there is a plan....makes one wonder if in fact we could survive it our self.

If anything could be learned or reinforced by reading this book...I would have to say...Always put your trust in God.....the path may not always be clear, but it's there with help along the way.

A Cowboy For Christmas

Totally the Perfect story of getting what you WANT for Christmas!

When her estranged brother passes, Missy is suddenly an unwanted co-owner to Ocean View Stables by Florence, Oregon. Missy wants to start over somewhere new after her old boss burned her. She's jobless and has a wrongly ruined reputation, so this works out perfectly . . . until she meets the cowboy running the place. Brent built his dream with determination and his two hands; he's responsible for everything that happens there. Secretly, he feels responsible that his former partner died. He also doesn't hide his belief that Missy won't stick around. Women tend to take off on him so why would she be any different? They both have a past that can ruin their future. Can he trust her to stay? Can she trust him with her heart?

Where to begin....Usually men are hard-headed fools, but I will have to say in this novel Missy plays that role to the tee.
From the get go Brent and Missy go tit for tat....it's really fun to read. It's so clear Brent has NO desire for Missy to be at the ranch and Missy has every desire to stay.
The characters are a blast! I love Brent...the whatever you please, as long as it doesn't hurt the ranch or anyone else attitude.
Missy, I understand, but man does she drive me NUTS at times!!!
I'm rather surprised by everything that Brent puts up with, but in the end I guess Dancer kicking him,all the mixed signals, after Thanksgiving dinner and all was worth it.
Overall...A Wonderful Holiday Story....Grab a fuzzy blanket, a hot chocolate, and your copy here....

A Vampire for Christmas

All they want for Christmas is you…

It's the time of year for twinkling lights on trees and kisses under the mistletoe. Yet the passing of another year means nothing to the stunning immortals who lurk in the shadows of the new-fallen snow.

And they don't care if you've been naughty or nice.

Let four fanged lovers open your eyes to a passion you never dared to imagine. After all, there's no place like home for the holidays—and these dazzling vampires can't wait for an invitation.

This book has four different stories offering a little yuletide tale
for the "Fang at heart"
I Thought for sure I'd say that the first story "Enchanted By Blood" was my favorite...being it had the lost love, a evil family member, and kick-butt action, but gosh darn it I had to go and read the rest of the stories!!!!

"Monsters Don't Do Christmas" was the next story up and WOW!
That one totally threw me for a loop...I would have NEVER guess in a million years she would have considered herself a monster....I mean really????

Next was.....
"When Herald Angels Sing"...It's the total vampire/angel redemption story....sweet in a twisted sort of way. So much blood spilled just to find peace....but still a good story.

Finally....
"All I Want for Christmas" ....I have to say this is my favorite. It had everything going for it...action, romance, and even a few other-worldly characters. Now, if I can only find a shirt like Eagan's I'll be the Happiest camper in the world!!!!
(You'll have to read the book to understand that comment...LOL)

These authors did a bang up job of making this holiday book...AWESOME!

Her Dark Knight

Madelaine Alexander is on a mission. When her boss sends her to the hottest nightclub in town to meet with the owner, she won't be deterred, even if that means standing in line for fifty-eight minutes in torturous heels while she'd rather be home in her pj's with a bowl of popcorn.
A Knight of the Templar, Christien Chevalier was given immortality along with the responsibility of protecting the treasure of the Templars. He's been unwavering in his task for centuries until his one true love—who died seven hundred years ago—shows up in his club, demanding his attention.
Christien couldn't protect Madelaine when they first fell in love. She was married to a lord and he was simply a knight. Now, through some unknown miracle, she stands before him again and they have a second chance. But Christien fears that Madelaine is being used as a pawn in a dangerous game, a game of good versus evil that could affect all of mankind...

Ahhhh yes......I must say one of the most unique romance books I've read this year.
Usually I have no problem saying I really loved it, liked it , or put it nicely that I thought it was just ok. However, this one has me on edge. I enjoyed reading it, but it's back story was freaking SAD!!! Not sad like in the author can't write worth a bean, but sad as in OMG, I want to jump in the book and smack some stupid men!
The love between Christien and Madelaine was unbelievable! I mean to surpass everything and still have a bond so strong...just WOW!
I can totally say I have no love lost on Giselle or Lucien...Really what Immortal SLIME (at least for the time being...LOL)
Truly a different kind of romance book.
Usually you think lots of romance, some fighting, happily ever after....but
the end was rather unexpected, but I guess it all worked out for the best.
Our Author took us on a whirl wind of an adventure...so I'd say this book is a....
Definite a read!!!

Light Fixtures

It’s 1963 and everything is moving fast for 14-year-old Aurora. Her often-manic thoughts and actions can cause those around her to shake their heads in bafflement, especially when her spirits nosedive. But it’s no puzzle for the mystical Mr. Hematite and his tiny assistant, Mr. Dragonfly. Together, they guide her in understanding the onset of bipolar moods, and show her that as Light Fixtures, everyone – even a bipolar teenager - has the potential to shine with balance and brilliance.

When I first started reading this I wondered where the blurb from the back of the book even came from?
After finishing the book I totally understood.

Although the book took a bit to get going, which was totally understood (the story had to be set for the day to day of how Aurora lived her life for the full effect). Once she met Mr. Dragonfly and actually followed him, it really started to be more than just a story of life. It became the story of who she was and how to understand what is happening to her.
Mr. Dragonfly took her to a small cabin  where she met Mr. Hematite....
He was such an interesting character, truly unique. Definitely a great help to Aurora in the beginning and in the end.
I honestly don't have a clue what would have happen to Aurora without the Iron box.
I must say my favorite part, although sad as all heck, was when Mr. Dragonfly died....Only  because of the poem Mr. Hematite recited:
Leave yourself open and you shall see that the Light of your day is upon thee.
Keep your heart firm and you will know that that the path of which you walk is that of secure.
Understand your trust and you will find the rose of your day and thorns of your mind.

If you are looking for a story with a bit of wonder then I would definitely pick this book up.
It's available for:
Kindle     Nook

I bet you're wondering why the book is called Light Fixtures????
You know I wondered that same thing, but I read the book and got an AMAZING answer!!!!!!

A Shot In The Dark

Coming November 7, 2011

Carter is one of the hottest men ever to walk into Paige Long's coffee shop. The attraction is mutual, and when Carter reveals himself to be a Dom, the submissive in Paige is aroused. Yet she brushes him off-her last relationship was abusive and she's unwilling to get involved with another Dom.
But when Carter returns the next day-in his firefighter uniform-Paige's fantasies really heat up. She can't resist his offer to get to know him over a drink at Mavericks, a local sex club. Their conversation quickly escalates to a session in one of the private rooms, and Paige is both thoroughly satisfied by Carter's skills in domination, and impressed with his selflessness as a lover.
Paige is ready to move on with her life. But can she trust in herself and submit to happiness?

Book 2 of the Long Shot Series, Only 30,000 words.
Personally, I found it a real easy read, enjoyable and fun. It started out strong and kept going.
Of course the idea of a hot fireman as a Dom kinda added to the whole sizzle of the story.
Paige is such a wonderfully written character.....she is so relate-able, always taking care of her siblings first....scorned from a last relationship...etc!
She really needed to take a break for herself and get her life back on track.
Carter....OMG!!!!! The above blurb said it all..."Selflessness as a lover"
He never did ask for more than a cup of coffee :)
Yet, very creative...loved the peas.....LOL
All in All a great read for any of my ADULT followers.
