She does not know that she has a protector, who watches her day and night, while she tries to find her parents’ killers. To save Noir’s life, Vincent has to give up his cover. Although they are attracted to each other, both know they can never fall in love and feel passion. The consequences would be devastating. Can their passion survive the threat of death?

My Opinion
Where to begin...
First the author gives you this amazing world where there's magic. Not the magical "Harry Potter" slick that has been going around, but real stick it to ya and have you mother call me later type of magic. Then she throws demons, angels and my favorite GARGOYLES in the mix.
You'd think that would keep you turning the pages right there, but nope...this author adds RULES that all these character are suppose to follow....That's where the fun begins!!!

I have to admit this book totally had me at Gargoyle. There are so few books on them that don't put them in a horrid light. So, when I saw that this one had one being a troubled, lusting protector...I hopped that bandwagon and didn't look back.
I fell in love with Vincent right away. The poor guy....lusting for something he just could have and then her being able to hear the things he's saying...PRICELESS!!!!!

The Witch, Noir, she took me a bit longer. I think it was more I was jealous of her  than anything, than the fact of her actual character. I mean she had Vincent...Powers and was on one hell of a mission. Who wouldn't want some adventure.....

The add the couple of Kara and Ash...WOW....Fallen Angel and Angel...I can't even begin to go there. At least without saying something to give away the goods.
She made him feel...Naughty.... Naughty.....LOL

Ms. Minden did an AWESOME job creating characters that by all means grabbed your heart and made you want to feel their story. You wanted them to break the rules. You wanted to be apart of their world as if only to help them along...I look forward to soooo much MORE!!!

About the Author

 INKA LOREEN MINDEN
(I just have to say...FREAKING AWESOME NAME!!!!)

Inka Loreen Minden is a German author of erotic and paranormal romances and young adult books. She has so many pseudonyms that people call her "the multi-named woman." Inka lives in Munich and shares her home with her husband and son. She has written more than 26 books—historical, contemporary, and paranormal—and her titles appear regularly on the German online bestseller charts.

Lets Have a CHAT with Inka!!!

How did you start writing erotica?

Originally I wanted to write young adult literature. But whenever my protagonists clicked I realized the tension between them was getting too strong to just stick to kissing. I enjoyed building up these stories and that is how I started writing erotica.

What’s your favourite published work of yours and why?

”Hearts of Stone” is one of the books that is most special to me. It has been published in German and will be available in English in 2015. I was the first German author to write a fantasy romance novel with gargoyles and the success it had made me very proud.

What erotic authors do you enjoy reading?

From the international erotica authors I like Megan Hart’s writing very much. The German author Katelyn Faith is very talented.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

People often ask questions about my inspiration and I don’t have a proper answer to it. It seems like my muse has a sadistic tendency because it keeps revealing new ideas which I then have to put to paper immediately – otherwise I would forget most of them. In my early years I used to write several books simultaneously which was kind of confusing at some point. But I learned to write my new ideas down but focus on one project at a time, before I start working on the next.

Do you have any unusual writing rituals?

When I’m writing everything that surrounds me needs to be completely quiet . And because I mostly write all day long, chocolate and chewing gum speed up my brain again when I get tired.

Where’s your favorite place to write?

My favorite place to write is with my laptop on the couch. I have a nice view out of the window into the green to relax my eyes from time to time.

Who is your favorite character from one of your stories and why?

This would probably be Ash from Hearts of Stone. He’s a fallen angel who turned into a demon. He touches my heart because he experienced such a heavy burden of destiny which made him turn into the typical bad boy. But inside he has a good heart which he’s able to show throughout the plot.

Do your nearest and dearest know what you do, and if so, what was their reaction when they found out?

Of course my family and friends know what kind of stories I write. My husband supported me from day one and has been a big support ever since. The only one who doesn’t is my son. He’s 11 and thinks I’m writing cheesy love stories.

What was your ideal career when you were a child?

Becoming a writer was my childhood dream. I’m very happy about the fact that I can make a living of it today.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

I’ve been in the writing business for quite a while and I have developed a kind of routine. When I get up the first thing I do is turn on the computer. After breakfast it’s usually 7:30 AM when I start writing. This is what I do 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The only exception is when we go on vacation and my family makes me leave my computer at home. Once I’m back in front of the desk after these little time outs it is a bit harder to get back into the routine. You need to be very disciplined to sit down anyway and get back to work but as soon as I get started the writing mood comes back, too.

What’s the best writing tip you’ve ever been given?

The best writing tip I’ve ever been given was about the first paragraph of a book: You have to write the entrance to a book as exciting as possible to get the reader hooked and wanting to read on.

If you get writer’s block when you’re writing, how do you get around it?

Luckily I’ve never had writer’s block, but rather the problem of having more ideas on my mind than time to write them down!

If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would it be and why?

This would probably be Nick – he’s a genie in a bottle in one of my young adult’s books and he could fulfil my every wish if he was real.

Which author, erotic or otherwise would you love to meet and why?

Stephen King was the grand idol of my childhood and if I could pick an author I would choose to meet him! I read all of his books when I was young.

What’s your favorite genre within erotica and why?

Definitely gay romance – one man is hot, two men are hotter! Love stories between men are very intense as you can evoke strong emotions and conflicts. Writing but also reading gay romance stories is very exiting.

What are you working on at the moment?

I have a lot of new books coming out in Germany in the beginning of next year. In the English speaking market my two next big projects are a young adult title called: Daniel Taylor and the Dark Legacy and a gargoyle romance called Hearts of Stone. I’m getting new requests by my readers every day, and I’m hoping to catch up with those in the near future and also to be able to fulfil my own ideas!

What’s the biggest writing challenge you’ve ever taken on? Did you succeed?
I’ve never taken part in a challenge yet. It’s not very common in Germany. I have my own speed in writing and I don’t like to write under pressure. I’m sure it’s a good thing for others though as it might be easier to get motivated in a group.

What’s your biggest writing achievement? Why?

Hearts of Stone has more than 650 pages and is my thickest book so far. It was a big challenge to write because at the beginning there are two parallel plots. At some point those storylines interweave and the main characters suddenly interact. It was hard to pay attention to all kinds of different elements. I’m very proud that it was so successful here in Germany.

Paranormal Romance
Date Published: February 4, 2015

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

It began as a fever of unknown origin that its victims dubbed “the Heat,” but as it burned through most of the world’s population, it became known simply as “the Dying.” And for those left behind, the struggle has just begun….

In the aftermath of the Dying, survivor Jessica Monroe is protected and guided by the gentle voice of an invisible being she thinks of as her guardian angel. When she reaches the sanctuary he’s provided for her, however, she realizes that her unseen companion is no angel at all. The destruction of humanity was only the first step in a much larger plan, and now Jessica must struggle to discover her own role in a frightening new world where everything has changed.

Excerpt

Now was the time to say a few words, but nothing seemed to come to mind. I couldn’t even remember the Lord’s Prayer, or more than the first few words of the Twenty-third Psalm.
“The Lord is my shepherd,” I began, then shook my head. What came next? The lines were all jumbled together in my head, nonsense syllables that sounded like something straight out of “Jabberwocky.” And what did it matter, anyway? We weren’t a religious family; we went to Christmas Eve services some years and some years not, maybe Easter. I’d gone to Sunday school when I was really little, but my parents hadn’t even bothered with that when Devin came along.
For the longest time I stood there under the oak, the sun disappearing altogether, deep dusk falling upon the yard. Then I moved, and the motion-sensor light mounted to the side of the garage flashed on.
“I love you all,” I said finally, then set the Waterford vase and the football trophy on top of their grave.

After that, I went back inside and shut the door behind me. It seemed to echo in the unnatural stillness of the house, and I realized it was hardly ever this quiet — someone always had the TV on in the background, or there was music playing, or somebody talking on the phone. Now the quiet pounded against my eardrums, and I realized how big a three-bedroom, two-thousand-square-foot house could feel when you were the only one in it.

The only one in the world….

The thought whispered through my mind, and I did my best to ignore it. Surely if I were immune, and not just having extremely delayed onset for some reason, that meant other people had to be immune, too. How many? I couldn’t begin to guess. I didn’t know the mortality rate of the disease. Even if 99.9% of the population was dead, that would leave around a thousand people still alive in the greater Albuquerque area, if I was doing my mental math correctly.

I turned on the overhead lights in the kitchen, then went through the house, turning on all the lamps. Maybe that wasn’t the smartest thing to do — maybe advertising my presence would do more harm than good. But I couldn’t sit there in the dark, not after everything I’d been through that day. Besides, when I peeked out through the curtains, I saw mine wasn’t the only house on the street that was all lit up. Most likely the others just had their lights on because no one was around to turn them off, but it did make mine seem less conspicuous.

“Are you there?” I asked of the darkness. Even a voice that was only a product of my imagination was better than this deep, deep silence, the kind of quiet you should never hear if you lived in a big city.

No reply, of course. My gaze shifted to the remote control, still lying where I’d last dropped it on the coffee table. I didn’t quite dare to turn on the television, not after what I’d seen the last time around. I could only imagine how bad it must be by now.

But there was still the stereo, and all the CDs my parents wouldn’t get rid of, despite Devin and me telling them all that plastic just took up space and that they should just rip all their music off those CDs and then play it through Apple TV or something. And now I had to be grateful for their stubbornness, because that meant I could get up and choose something to blot out the silence. My father liked country, but old country, like Hank Williams and Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline, and my mother preferred classical. That sounded better to me right then, so I found her favorite, Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, and put that on.

It actually was better, with the sound of an orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy on the piano overriding that awful stillness. Or at least it was better until I realized that no one would ever play that piece live again, that there would be no more symphony orchestras or Arcade Fire concerts or anything, ever again.

“Oh, God,” I gasped, pushing myself up from the couch and running into the kitchen, where I turned on the faucet and splashed cold water in my face. As if that could begin to help. It was all too big to comprehend, so awful and enormous that I could literally feel the horror of it beginning to sink in, like some  noxious chemical seeping into my skin.

And then it was as though strong, invisible arms wrapped around me, bringing with them a soothing warmth. Unseen lips brushed against my hair, and I heard the voice again.

Be strong, my love. Be strong for just a while longer.

Just as suddenly, the presence was gone. I held on to the tile of the kitchen counter, feeling the cool surface beneath my fingertips. In that moment, I truly wondered if I’d lost my mind.

What other explanation could there be?

Author Interview

Do you have any plans to write a spin-off for Aberrant? Yes! I am currently working on an untitled project that is a prequel, spin-off. I haven't spoken much about it, but I will say there is plenty of action and a world to explore that we've barely touched in the Aberrant trilogy.
What are you currently working on? I've got several writing projects underway. Forget Me Knot (Royal Reaper 2) is in edits right now with an expected Spring 2015 release. I'm also writing steamy adult fiction under the name Ravyn Rayne, which will be available this year as well. You can find those projects on Ravyn Rayne Reads
Do you have a full-time job? Writing and marketing my own novels is my full-time job. It involves far more than 40 hours a week, but I love it, so I don't mind.

Genie thought learning how to “do” The Hustle was the worst thing about 1977, right along with strobe lights and disco balls, but she discovers something far worse the day she is bottle banished by an unsanctioned hunter obsessed with her destruction.

Thirty-seven years later, she is awakened from her spellbound slumber by a homeless alcoholic who wants whiskey not a wish. Overwhelmed with shame and keeping secrets from even himself, Reid Romans is the worst master ever.

He stinks. He’s dirty. He’s rude, but even more maddening; he’s sinfully sexy under all the filth and attitude.

When his green-eyed gaze captures Genie for the first time, she’s hooked, and being hooked on a human is not acceptable or allowed according to the genie rule book.

While Reid’s unsavory past bites hard at his heels, and he’s accused of a murder he didn’t commit, a powerful jinn is stalking Genie, intent on adding her to his harem. She has rejected him too many times to count, but he won’t stop until he claims her—body and soul.

Genie and Reid have way more than one love-sick jinn to deal with. A ruthless FBI agent; a cold-blooded cartel; and a hateful hunter, who wants genie back in her bottle, banished forever; keep them fighting for freedom and against the desire flaring between them.

Dark secrets, forbidden love, and simmering suspense take Genie and Reid on an unforgettable journey where the past and future collide and wishes run out.

Readers will uncover numerous references to current and past pop culture sprinkled throughout the story. Watch author’s website for contests connected to these references!

MY OPINION
One of the more darker romance books I've read this year. It was interesting. I like the whole hunter/genie part. I don't know if I fully embrace so many points of view, I like knowing who was talking don't get me wrong, it totally helps with where this story went, but I personally didn't embrace it.
I really thought the love/hate relationship with Genie and Reid was rather funny. Where as most men would flip and go nuts to have a Genie, Reid was totally pissed off about the whole thing. It was cute. Then top it off with the lust craze Jinn and hey we have a party.

I totally didn't like the dip-shit FBI agent...what's his face...I mean yeah he did off the guy for a reason but he's an ASS with the capital A. OMG!!!
Among other things...and I'm not even going into the other things.

As for the whole scenic setting...I LOVE it!!! Anytime an author writes about an area that I've actually been to and can visualize I'm so on the mark. It make the characters even more real than just the images I have created in my mind from the words off the pages.
I would love to see how the next book plays off of this one. I'm sure they only get more extreme!
